Come up & see us some time!

We are always pleased to welcome visitors to our Club. If you are in the area, just pop in throughout the summer - for a cup of tea/coffee or maybe even a pint or something else from our bar.

If you represent another club - perhaps on tour or from a club we don't already play - we will be pleased to try to set up a fixture with you. We only make one stipulation & that is that we only play mixed games. Depending on what you want, we can arrange lunch or a meal after the game or simply provide tea & biscuits if you want something light. We charge only modest fees for meals & green fees on the basis that you will probably be more than happy to have a drink or two in our bar.

Thinking of taking up bowls for the first time? You're in the right place!

The first thing to remember is that bowls is one of the best competitive games for all ages for both men & women. Don't worry if you have never bowled before, we all started like that and many of us have not advanced very far beyond this.

The next most important thing is to choose which club you would like to join. There are plenty to choose from but West Hoathly offers some of the finest facilities in Sussex and we are noted for our laid-back "no airs & graces" approach. We have a six rink bowling green to use for over 100 friendly games each season plus lots of competitions - internal & external - to enter. Off the green, we have a superb pavilion with modern bar, kitchen, changing rooms, etc. We run a very active social programme throughout the year so there is a lot more to West Hoathly than bowls

The best thing to do is to come along some time and have a go. Contact Chairman Glyn at thelyfords@tiscali.co.uk by e-mail NOW and he will let you know when the season starts and when the best times are to come. There is no obligation to join and you will be made most welcome. If you like what you see then we will be pleased to accept you as a member. If you do want to join, we offer discounted fees for your first year

Don't worry about not having any bowls - we have plenty of spare sets you can try out. All you need to start is a pair of flat shoes. No stilettos or hobnailed boots - ladies or gents (or vice versa!) , please!

Where are we?

That's a good question!

We are a village club tucked well off any major road of any consequence. We are in the middle of an area bounded by:

to the north, the A264 Crawley to Tunbridge Wells
to the south, the A272 Billingshurst to Heathfield
to the east, the A22 London to Eastbourne
to the west, the M23/A23 London to Brighton

If you see the sea, you've missed us by miles!

Once you arrive in the village - if you ever do! - you need to find the church and The Cat Inn. From this point, follow the road past the church (on your left hand side) for less than a quarter of a mile and you will see the bowls club on your left hand side.
