Come along to West Hoathly Bowls Club’s Open Weekend

10am-1pm on Sat 16th & Sun 17th May 2026

Our open weekend is the opportunity for you, your friends and family to give bowls a go. It’s an opportunity for people who want to try a new sport, have some fun and meet new people.

The event at West Hoathly Bowls Club is taking place between 10am and 1pm on Sat 16th & Sun 17th May. We are really excited about welcoming new people to our club and can guarantee that you will have plenty of time on the green testing your skills, meet our friendly club members and learn about how you can be part of our friendly, local club.

There’ll be fun competitions, refreshments on offer and lots of laughs.

We have a picturesque location off Hook Lane in the village of West Hoathly, South of East Grinstead in West Sussex. We boast one of the best bowls greens in the county, which is fully maintained by club members. Along with our well fitted Club House complete with changing facilities and Lounge areas and a very competitive Bar.

The bowls club prides itself on being a welcoming mixed club with options for players of all abilities and ages to join us. Our membership offers excellent value for money and is designed to enable players to get the most from their bowls as a newcomer or a county bowler.
As well as social bowls sessions we have coaching available for novices or those needing to work on their skills.

For those new to bowling we offer a four week FREE Taster with FREE bowls coaching – come along and give it a try! If you can’t make it to our Open Weekend, just give us a call on the number below as we’d love to arrange another time that suits you. We can supply everything you need to get you playing. If you enjoy it as much as we think you will, you can choose to become a member for just £50 for the first year.

It’s normal to feel a little apprehensive about starting something new, but bowls is a sport that is easy to take up and you’ll be assured a warm welcome.
It is very doable, whatever your physical ability, relatively inexpensive and is really sociable.

It’s a great sport to spend time with family (and maybe enjoy a little healthy competition!) and our wonderful location makes it a perfect place to relax over a cup of tea or something a little stronger.

We also have opportunities to play competitive bowls in our many friendly matches, league games and competitions and you may also choose to join one of our many social events.

Interested? Call Roger on 07471 479787 to register for an Open Weekend session or Robin on 07881 207576 if you’d like to come along at another time. All you need to bring is a pair of flat shoes. We’re sure you’ll love it!
