Plant & Cake Sale a Success Despite the Weather

07 May 2024

The plant sale yesterday was a great success despite the weather. In fact some people may have turned up because of the weather - not having anywhere else to go!

There was a constant stream of customers, some of whom turned up at 9 o'clock rather than wait until 9.30 so they could get in first.  People eventually stopped coming at about 11.30 so that was good.

There was a very good display of plants and there seemed not to be as many left as in previous years.  We also had a good supply of cakes to sell as well as individual cakes and slices to be purchased to eat along with their cups of tea or coffee.

Roy came and counted the money at the end of the morning, the takings were very good, the Cake Sale proceeds were £235.50 and the Plant Sale proceeds were £571.55. An excellent job - well done to all!

Special thanks to Gwen & John, Mick & Pam for their involvement with the plant sale, Marion, Ann Butcher, Chrissie, Sharon Lucas, Sylvie, Claire Beatty and Karen West for their hard work with the beverages & cakes and anyone else who was helping that I may have missed. Finally a big thank you to all who baked cakes or provided plants!

Unfortunately, the weather put paid to our first Jubbly Cup competition which had to be cancelled! We hope to re-arrange it for later in the season.
