Our West Hoathly men lost out in the first round of the National men’s top club away at Preston tonight. It was a tough evening on a tricky green against a strong Preston side. Roger DeBrett and Roy Williams lost the two wood and four wood matches but Glyn Lyford rallied to win the fours by a good margin. This left Chris Champions triples and Gordon Halls pairs to try and win to give us victory. Sadly Chris Champions triples lost by one shot on the Final end after coming back from five down to level the match going into the final end. The pairs match (which was equally as close a dead match) was then abandoned as it would not have helped either way. This gave Preston a 3-1 victory.
Well done to all who played, the effort was there but not the result.
