We held our Invitation Triples on Sunday 10th July, 20 teams competed for the cup, which included as usual our own West Hoathly Triples winners from the 2021 Club Competitions and a team selected by the Chairman. The weather smiled on us by providing a lovely hot day.
This year it had been decided not to do our usual meal at lunchtime, we had requested all teams bring their own picnic lunch, however, tea/coffee biscuits and bacon rolls were provided in the morning and a selection of cakes with tea and coffee available in the afternoon. The bar was open all day for those who preferred liquid refreshment.
The final was contested by the West Hoathly Triples winners and a team from Hurstpierpoint with Hurstpierpoint winning the Cup, which was presented by our President, Dai Howick.
A big thank you to all those who helped to make the day a success, from those who erected the gazebos, tidied up the garden and surrounding area, put out the chairs and set up the rinks, to the ladies who ran the catering, dished out the tea & coffee and served the lovely cakes kindly made by our members, as well as those who served behind the bar helping to keep the players hydrated. Thanks also to Gerry Neary and Pam Nesbitt for keeping a record of the scores and, last but not least, to Colin Bowley for organising the whole event, contacting the teams and arranging the days play, also to Mick Nesbitt for running the day on behalf of Colin. Without their help the day would not have been possible.
