Ten teams of 3 in two groups competed for the Memorial Cup on Monday 28th August 2023, our annual Charity raiser. The weather turned out to be kind and not a drop of rain fell on the competitors.
Altogether there were 5 rounds of games of 4 ends each with one team moving up a rink and the other team staying on the same rink depending on the result. There was a break after 3 rounds when everybody could get some refreshment from the bar. The final result was decided on a play off between the two highest scoring teams from each group, Ken & Jane Alexander with Mark Chivers, and Guy Hodder, Fiona Hart with Karen Glaisher, who played a further 3 ends. The eventual winners were Guy, Fiona & Karen.
The day was a great success and the raffle raised a wonderful £142, this, together with the entry fees totalling £90 gave an amount of £232 which will be donated to Cancer Research.
