A bumper turnout, dry weather and some novel bowls games ensured the grande finale to our season was both entertaining and enjoyable.
Players were placed into triples teams and had to work their way through three different match formats and a number of rule variations that required a bit of strategic thinking - including when to play a joker card that doubled your score. The eventual winning team had a commanding lead over the other teams, so it was a case of well-played and congratulations to the three of them named below for taking home the spoils.
There were also a number of quizzes and competitions to enter throughout the day between sessions, including some spontaneous contests on the green. Below is the roll of winners across the various activities:

Needless to say, the day couldn’t have happened without the fantastic team who committed their time and energy to run the event. This included BBQ master chef Martyn Dann, the tremendous catering team of Ann Butcher, Sylvie Smith, Trish Vincent, Pat Dunn and Sheila Crisp, plus Carole Watson, whose tenacity at selling raffle tickets has no equal. Our Captain Chris Champion also needs to take much credit for organising all the bowls activities.
The generous support of so many members who provided cakes and donated raffle prizes helped make it both an immensely enjoyable day as well as a successful fundraising event and a memorable way to celebrate the final day of our outdoor season.
