We had a good turnout for the Memorial cup on Saturday with 24 members. This allowed for 4 x Triples played on a rotation format using the numbered tiles which were selected after each 4 end game. The tiles determined the rink and playing position of each player for each game. Each player kept their own individual scorecards and played 5 games of four ends each.
At the end of the games, Roger de Brett and one of our newest members, Nick Lawson, both had 17 points each and so they played a 2 end final which resulted in a 2 point draw. It then went to a sudden death final end and Roger de Brett won. Well done Roger.
They played an additional two end final which resulted in 2 points each so it came down to a sudden death playoff where Roger claimed the final point and was the overall winner. Well done!
Nick Lawson was the biggest surprise of the day with an amazing achievement as he couldn't believe it himself getting into the final and becoming runner up especially as he had never played in a bowls match let alone any competitions before. Well done Nick!
Thanks to Graham Bull for organising the day.
